SQ is shaking things up, baby! We’ve evolved since our last feature series with some epic, magickal artists. Now, we’re rolling out a fresh collaborative program. Our current featured artist mentors the next and takes over SQ’s Original Art Series page, designing it however they please. They handle all their promos and ads, collaborating with our product specialist, the quaint and queer backbone, Scarlett, to get their designs on point. Artists pour their energy into creating an online art installation, doubling as an artist residency at SQ’s official art shop. These features last until our next artist is ready to shine. We believe in “soft deadlines,” meaning if life gets in the way, we give it the time it needs. Our mantra: Artists work hard to produce passion. Period. Mental, physical, and emotional health comes first. When life starts life-ing, we make things soft. Currently, 2X featured artist Unraveled Legion is mentoring the fabulous Forest System. Previously featured artist Artemis (also known as the DID System Unraveled Legion) ropes Forest into the SQ chaos, unleashing their creativity with no boundaries. I've had queer, female and female adjacent identifying humans as my cannabis supplier for the last 5ish years and i recently came across Dank Dykes on instagram and joined their community ASAP. (1) i love dykes, dude. being in company with anyone who brings out my inner and outer dyke is a yes for me, dawg. also (2), just supporting women gives me life. women are everything, aren’t we? ANYway, i'd never been to Purgatory in Bushwick because it's a pain in the hemorrhoid to get there for me. Brooklyn is huge and the most popular areas currently are pieces of shit to get to from other areas of Brooklyn. this proves i will do anything for lesbians. Here's what my autism and dyslexia thought: I was confused by the word DOWNSTAIRS is included in the event title... or it's a part of the name of the place? honestly, i still don't know but i immediately asked how i get downstairs to find out that it just WAS downstairs. again, i'm still confused. I also was hoping to purchase and chat but i had no idea where to go to do that and then i became uncomfortable and shy about it. a lovely human had made fast friends with me within the first 10 seconds of being there so i was able to avoid the entire thing by quickly going outside after getting a drink and joined a table of fun neuroqueers. then from there it was just vibes and hugs and autism all over the place. i loved it. i met one person who could be close to my age but i probably had a 10-15 year seniority on everyone there which was a cool experience. i love talking to young people and hearing about their experiences on earth thus far. giving out micro wisdom to the youngs and my peers is the equivelent of feeling joy times one hundred. also i'm always trying to attach my carabiner to any willing and able, young artists coming up as independents. i thought Purgatory with the bisexual lighting, the lesbians and the vibes were cool and comfotable. it brought me back to concept of having fun and making connections. i'm def willing to trek to ::eyeroll:: Bushwick ::eyeroll:: for dykes, blunts & pleasantries. why is everyone who exists hot? please help peath  

I had the pleasure of doing a full, little jig with Steve, indie artist, for sq's new "first friday" situation. what had happened was - i decided to give random stranger on the internet my whole ass address bc he was offering to send a FREE STICKER that he made!! turns out, i was just getting what i had been asking the stars for - more relationships with folks i can relate to. Steve and i discussed his choice to ask for stranger's addresses and it turns out he just decided to trust and shoot his shot. a VERY helpful element is that we bumped into each other a couple times in the House of Herby discord community, a space i consider to be a pretty safe and secure place. it literally is full of indie artists who are healing and creating and caring for one another. anyway...
